Muriel Trembleau, stage designer and independent artist

Muriel Trembleau is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts
Appliquées et des Métiers d'Art d'Olivier de Serres in interior architecture and l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in stage design, and she has worked for the arts of the stage and museums. Trained at the Théâtre National de Chaillot then directed by Antoine Vitez, she met the stage designer and producer Yannis Kokkos (Electre, Ubu Roi, Le Misanthrope - Anacaona, Lucrèce Borgia, le Soulier de Satin, La Célestine). She collaborated on his work for many years for the theatre and opera in France and elsewhere (Boris Goudonov, Iphigénie, la Thébiade, la Damnation de Faust, le Crépuscule des Dieux, les Oiseaux, Hansel et Gretel). She created the stage design for his production of Onysos le furieux by Laurent Gaudé (TNS 2006). She created the stage designs for the shows of Jean-Pierre Rossfelder, Michel Vinaver, Eloi Recoing, Redjep Mitrovitsa, François Rodinson, Ivan Grinberg, Jean-Louis Hourdin or Aurélien Recoing.

She collaborated in the creation of the Cie Pseudonymo in 2000 and on the first shows produced by David Girondin Moab (Imomushi, le Golem, Les Mille et Une Nuits).

She is well acquainted with the new techniques of animated numerical images, and she associates them with her scenographic language (Illusion, ça trompe énormément - Palais de Découverte, Shibori - Musée du Quai Branly - teaching concerts at the Cité de la Musique).

Parallel to these activities, she has taught at ESNAM in Charleville-Mézières, ENSAD in Strasbourg, ENSATT in Lyon and the Théâtre aux Mains Nues. She has taught since 2011 at the Institut d'Etudes Théâtrales de la Sorbonne Nouvelle.
